Matt Dulka is a permanent deacon for the Oakland Diocese and for over 20 years has been in full time ministry with the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers promoting mission. As the Associate Director for U.S. Church Engagement, Matt coordinates Maryknoll’s mission education and promotion efforts across the country, working with Maryknoll’s local Mission Educator - Promoters and teams to foster communities of missionary disciples. Matt has traveled around the world to visit many of Maryknoll’s missions and has led mission immersion trips to East Africa, Central America, Jamaica, Mexico, Central America and Southeast Asia.

Matt is a dynamic speaker and has given presentations, workshops and retreats on mission, globalization, Catholic social teaching, spirituality and the diaconate across the country, including in the archdioceses and dioceses of New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento, Reno, Monterrey, San
Jose, Santa Rosa, Norwich, Jacksonville, Buffalo, Rochester, Houston, San Antonio, New Orleans, Montego Bay, Jamaica, and for the National Catholic Education Association, National Association of Deacon Directors. Catholic Media Association, etc. Matt developed Maryknoll’s Missionary Disciple Formation
Program and other mission education resources.
Background: After college, Matt joined the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and ministered to detained youth in the Oakland area. Later he worked as a civil litigation attorney and partner at a firm in San Francisco.

In 1996, Matt left the firm to work with Maryknoll as a Gift Planning Officer and after his ordination, as a Mission Educator and Promoter. Matt is married with adult three children. Matt holds a law degree from Golden Gate University and a Master of Theology from the University of San Francisco.
